Executive Summary for 2011
2011 is my last student life cycle...
How did i perform so far??
let's see...
First of all,
i'm no longer single...
with a girl 3cm taller than me...
Not bad, she can be a very good mom...
can cook very well...
then,
some not really good one...
My Dad was diagnosed nose cancer few months before i fly to UK for my degree program...
Luckily,He managed to overcome all the treatments and getting better nowadays...
and i decided to work in sabah if got a good job in sabah so i can take care of my parents and also allow myself to save more money due to lower cost of living and entertainment in my hometown TAWAU.
So,i rejected CHARTIS insurance company job offer as underwriting exec with 2.6k start up pay and 6 months probation.
I like the job where it need me to do some analysis and also meet up agent, broker, clients(BOD,Big firm,Financial institutions).
This job requires me to do some presentation.
But it doesn't give employee benefit as good as bank but its good enough for a normal start up.
My study,
came back from UK with 1st class honor...
one of the good achievements of the year...
at the same time i went for CFA level 1 exam...
result will be out on 24 january 2012, please pray for me...
Finance part of mine...
this is the worst performance of the year...
Total portfolio recorded a small gain of 0.24% which equal to nothing!!
Main reason of the small gain is due to hiking expenditure includes UK expenses and CFA registration fee and exam fee.
Then, 2011 had the lower income ever for these 4 years...
Higher outflow with lower inflow caused low growth in 2011...
Equity portfolio posted disappointed result which is -2.96% due to over-divest when i'm traveling in Europe at the end of September.
Super low equity exposure forgone the return of the market rebound and missed the dividend target.
Total dividend received is only 900++ from equity portfolio which is 10% below the target...
Estimation of opportunity costs of that action are an equity return of +5% and total dividend of 1.6k...
I learned 1 more lesson, be confident on your selection and forget about the market movement!!!
I must practice that!
At last,
I didnt reach the book reading targets,
didnt read much book this year, maybe just around 10 books...
Blog writing is kinda low this year...
But i do have 1 more big achievement in 2011...
I organized UK trip and Europe trip for my course-mates..
8 cars for the UK-Scotland&land's end trip...
we used 9 days and we slept in the car most of the time...
but we do really learned and experienced alot!!!
MONEY CANT buy those memories and experience we got there...
next,
Europe trip which is the biggest backpack tour ever from TARC!!
we had 30 members in total...
traveled 9 Europe mainland's countries and 11 cities...
COOL...
Gonna plan more BIG stuff in 2012...
GOgogogogo...
ROCK THE 2012!!

Hirotako bhd
HIROTAKO bhd...
this is one of the major automobile component manufacturer in Malaysia...
its manufacture mainly all the safety component especially the airbag...
2012, all car must have 2 airbag...
btw, HIRO produces airbag for perodua d...
its post a good financial position...
but the only drawback is low dividend payout which is the reason i sold it out from my portfolio 2 years ago...
i bought it around 90cent...
its DY only around 2% but HIRO offer treasury share quite often...
i sold it out around 1.10~1.20 right before its share price jumped to 1.90...
thn went down to around 0.80 after split 1-2 and bonus share 1-4...
lastly, take over deal from MBMR...
we going to lose another good company in BURSA...
kinda sad...
i still have 70 odd lot of HIRO...
which i cant sell it off because its not a complete 1 lot size...
have to find another good company into my watchlist dy...
Plan changed~
3 sides crashed...
1 side~parents
1 side~career
1 side~GF
kinda impossible to keep all these at the same time at the best level...
have to stay back and start my career at my small hometown...
parents have to be taken care...
career path can be changed slightly at the beginning...
GF>>have to separate for 2-3 years...
living and working at different place will really increase our uncertainty...
how to maintain a distance relationship?
both have to be strong and steady...
its kinda impossible to keep her in a small town with me...
too much for her to let go...
hmmmm...
have to re-arrange my whole plan again...
its really kinda hard to plan...
ah men...
wish me all the best...

The Junction of my life
Last day in London...
bought myself a cup of COSTA mocha...
have rest and think about the future plan after walking around Camden town...
asking myself...
who i want to be in few years time...
what i want to have in few years time...
set myself the 1st main stage of my life~30 years old...
i probably will get married and have at least 1 kid whn i'm 30...
hence have to really "PIA" for the future...
Aim to get marry in 4 years time~when i'm 28...
to make sure my future life is better...
have to reach some of the targets when i'm 30...
most of it are in term of financial...
cuz tat time...
i have to be able to support 3 families...
my own family x2 (me and my wife,dad+mom+sis+bro)...
her family (wife)
1) positive net-worth and financially independent(i will need at least 7k passive income)...
2) 300k investment portfolio (excludes the property and biz)
3) 4 property and 1 own house
4) 4 biz
i should start investing in property start from 2013( 26 years old)
then i will have 5 properties when i'm 30...
meanwhile biz should be started next year...
still having my 1st biz dream~a studio...
then thinking of bakery+coffee shop with my bro...he is taking bakery now...
some biz related with sea where my dad and mom can operate it...
lastly...a small tour company with my sis...
and maybe some F&B biz which can be started easily and low cost...
to do so...
i have to really "PIA" 99 at the beginning especially the 1st 2 years...
start in S'pore...
get my CFA in 2013 and become a Charted Financial Analyst in 2015/16
have to get myself a salary of SGD 2.8k and above...
at least save up SGD 1k for investment each month...
have to start building up passive income stream by 2012...
if i can hit these targets...
i will be a FREEman by 35 years old...
i can do wat i wan together with my family...
to do so...
i have to be ready to take some risk...
a quote from MA YUN...
"if there is a certainty of 40%,just do it!"
sometimes, think too much is a problem...
take some calculated risk and go for it...
let's see how it goes...

Another Crisis
Europe sovereign debt crisis is booming.
its no more greece's problem...
its the whole EU problem...
they are facing a very tough time...
there is always strike around the main city of EU...
i experience it when i was in ROME italy...
none of the underground train working at that day until 5pm...
not all the buses are operating...
me and my friends have to take another bus rather than bus 62...
the driver doesnt want to pick up anyone after he dropped off all the passenger at the last stop where he suppose to turn around and pick us up to the city center...
he stop the bus in front of us and just sit inside the bus...
this type of strike will damage the image and econ of the country...
*EU having huge debt...
not all of they generate enough GDP to cover their expenditures...
their people is lazy to work...
lazy to do business...
i dont think they can solve current problem so easily...
EU is not that union when it comes to this stage...
who willing to pay the bill of his neighbor??
or when everyone is in the trouble, who want to help their neighbor??
i'm kinda pessimistic on the EU crisis...
hence i have reduced my equity exposure...
let's see how it goes...
KLCI rebounded...
but it didnt not change its down trend yet...
possibility to head south is higher than going up...

Current Stock Market
look around the stock markets...
volatility and uncertainty increased these few weeks...
US and EU stock market having huge volatility and hence leads to very uncertain move in ASIA's markets.
Economic data shows some -ve signal...
manufacturing data heading south...
most of the PMI of the G7 is around 50 and many below 50 which mean contraction...
Cash holding of my portfolio has been increased to around 60% which is a very comfortable level of mine...
equity holdings consist of CCK,HIRO,WELLCAL,CSCENIC,UCHITEC and GTRONIC.
waiting for the mega sales in the near future...
i predict that KLCI will be below or around 1400 when i reach Malaysia in the mid OCT..

Riot (london,machester,liverpool,bath)
sometimes...
there will be some uncivilized humans in the civilized city...
2 points for this incident...
1)why the police shoot the black guy after he drop his gun down.
is there any racism issue? or its just a misunderstanding?
or the black guy never drop his gun down and get killed by the police and
some racist human started to create the havoc...
2)why all the youth/young man get themselves into the riot?
can't you have a clear target??
are you attacking the police or the other citizens??
no one will benefit from this riot...
British law enforcer,
please settle it down asap...
no wonder we can hear the helicopter passing through our hostel sky every evening...
lastly,
what the hack are the RIOTers thinking about??
Manchester, liverpool, bath and sheffield didnt shoot ur man la...
use ur head..
find the right person la...
dont affect other innocent citizens..
Bearish overtook the KLCI
how bearish is it this time?
no one know.
seems to be a huge impact after US being downgraded to AA+!
europe crisis is still remain unsolved...
many sold off their equity holding and rush into gold...
stock market all around the world experienced huge correction since last friday...
gold break the 1700 usd per ounce...
i'm still on my strategy...
but kinda run out of bullet to average down some of my holdings...
16th august will be the expired date for 1 of my FD...
thats the bullet i waiting for...
the next batch of bullet will be 26th sept...
i might send some fund from UK to M'sia if the KLCI break its 1450...
will keep on everage down!
wait for the div in sept,OCT and DEC...
might load up with more TECH stock in near term...
current holding has GTRONIC and UCHITEC...
might load up some UNISEM since it went below P/BV of 1 recently...
will launch the satellite approach for my portfolio...
its consist of core satellite with some minor satellites around the core 1..
will enhance the return and stability of my portfolio...
hence at least 70% on the core satellite and other 30% on the minor 1...
no one know.

Summer course in SHU
TARCians have the option to study 3 months summer top-up program either in SHU or LJMU.
Sheffield is kinda small and peaceful city but we still need to be-careful especially in the night...
many DRUNKies on the street...
we had 1 break-in case just now...
some one break in through the window after they cut the steel bar...
kinda that scary...
the lesson is...try not to stay at ground floor and dont leave your valuable in the room when you're going out for a trip!!
lets come back to the cost of living in sheffield for tarcian...
how much do we need for this 3 months or 4 months??
3700 pound included tuition fee and accommodation (1.3k if i not mistaken)
flight ticket will cost us around RM3.5k
meanwhile, cost of living in sheffield can be very low if you cook yourself and join some of the trip only...
budget for F&B will be definitely below 100 pound per month if you didnt have your meal outside...
but u will need around 150-200 pound for the 1st week because there are some groceries you need to buy here
without spectacular life and trips...it will only cost around RM25-26k
but its sufficient to live very enjoyable...
stay tune for other sharing of sheffield life..

Community House in Sheffield
its an old-folk community house where there are around 60 elders staying there...
they have a very nice common room...
they have a very kind and friendly manager~TINA the cutest lady beside me...
some of them are no in a very good condition and need a health carer to look after them...
but most of them are kinda active, interactive, kind and friendly...
its kinda funny when there is an "Ah Po" age 98 and still kinda talkative...
so cute and funny...
went to this place with 2 of the university's stuff...
main purpose of this visit is to learn how they live and their experience in sheffield...
we talked about the oldfolk house and the community house here...
here in sheffield...
everything is kinda peace, positive, and interactive...
back in malaysia...
its kinda different...the whole atmosphere is kinda dull and sad...
even the worker of the oldfolk house is DULL and sienz...
this community house in sheffield is a good place to live when i'm old...
comfortable...
friendly and active mates...
not bad ah...^^
"we need to visit them more often to interact with them"
CCK consolidated holdings berhad
above is the preview summary...
CCK is one of my main holding which is 34% of my portfolio...
its in food sector...this is why i invest on it...
small company...hence moving slower than index~beta <1
good fundamental...
its been trading at the range of 0.2++ to the max around 1.2.
1st bought it in during 2009.
its price to book value move around 0.8
which is kinda undervalued...
graham taught us not to pay high price which is overvalue from its book value...
its a safety margin for us if we buy at price to book value below 1...
but not all industry tend to have price to book value around 1...
high BETA industry such as finance, property and oil&gas tend to have higher price to book value...
most of them can be consider cheap when approaching price to book value around 1.5-1.75...
PE since 10 years ago...
it is trading at a PE of 10 most of the time...
compare with KLCI currently~PE of 15...
anything below PE of 10 seems cheaply priced...
current PE around 8-9 is kinda comfortable or relatively safe...
investing in CCK cant expect of EXCITING return in a year...
its share price tend to move slow and steady...
anyone purchase 2 years ago...u gain 22% so far...
normal DY is around 3.5% (slightly higher than our FD rate)
please take into consideration of the treasury share and its ability to give out special dividend once in 2 to 3 years...
lastly,
let see some of the major ratio and justify whether Tiong family did they work well or not...
ROE get back on the ground 10 well...12.49% last year.
net margin is around 4%...
this will get better when its prawn biz get better!!!
CCK is expanding its most profitable biz currently~RETAILING!!
1 dragon services...thats good...
the best part is!!!
good cashflow...
cashflow over sale is 6.45 last year...an average more than 5.5!!
thats why CCK managed pay back quite alot of its debt!!
inventory turnover getting faster...
expanding the retail arm will increase the speed even more...
i quite confident that CCK will do some expansion on its poultry biz soon too...
too make sure its supply can meet the demand all over its retail stores...
its debtor pay back the credit in faster pace...
good for CCK's cashflow!!
debt ratio is deceasing and yet sales increased!!
we did some calculation on the cash ratio last time...
it is well above 1...
to summary it up...
CCK~cash rich, strong cashflow, normal to good dividend(depend whether got special dividend or not),low debt, still growing, low PE and price to book value...
i consider CCK as a good stock for LONG TERM!!!
its the best performer in my portfolio!!
will hold it til its rust!!

Low Risk return
always turning on my mind to think how to earn $$ with the lowest risk possible...
i got a plan...
refinance my house (own by my parents not me)...
may be just RM 100k...
how much will be the interest charge when i'm good enough to do that?
if the refinance cost is just around 5% or below...
then my plan might work...
borrow at 5% and invest all in safe dividend instruments...
Amanah saham~>6%
REIT~>7%
high DY stock~>7%
then i will have 1% to 2% free interest!!
100,000 and i will have 1k free...then reinvestment keep it going...
i will be able to gain bigger portion of "free" gain...
hmmm...
can be workable...

we have reach the mid point of 2010...
total received dividend so far is 715.24...
upcoming dividend will be the GTRONIC div which is RM100 will be received in these few days...
so total DIV received in 7 months will be 815.24!!
there will be at least 2 more div payments from wellcall where it will be a total of around RM250...
hence i will receive at least more than RM 1,000.00!!
cool!!
i forecast that GTRONIC will pay another div at the last quarter of 2011...
hence i might be able to get an annual dividend of RM 1,200.00
sold out 1 of my major div generator~FSL trust
due to its down turn biz cycle and the worst performer in my portfolio...
luckily,
still able to generate more than 4 digits div...

UK financial services---DAMN GOOD
now i know why LONDON is the world no.1 financial center...
if you have any inquiry...they will call u back in a min!!!
if you need any information...you can get it easily from the internet...
if you want to open an account here...they will appreciate it very much...
digital look is one of the main website to collect information...
requested some hardcopy annual reports from them...
guess what??
F.O.C and post it to your front door...
they have huge coverage on most of the company...
there are many financial website cover all the financial news...
that's why malaysia away back behind.
still wondering whether i should also open an stock trading account...
not going to touch the CFD 1st...
too risky...
stock trading in UK?
the fastest way to learn...
TO PRACTICE it!!
so i'm planning to get a stock trading account here in uk.
but ordinary share trading account is kinda not famous here.
they use to be CFD trading rather than the share.
CFD is kinda derivative trading where there will be a huge leverage 1 to 10 or 1 to 20..
so we can trade 10 times of our deposit.
we can long or short the underlying share or indices.
trading commission is 0.5% of the value and we pay nothing for the stamp duty.
we still entitle to the dividend and any right issues...
but we do not own the share...
unfortunately...
its not my style...
i going to buy and hold rather than trade those stock for short term...
secondly,
i have only small start up capital...
therefore, i go for high risk at this moment...
found a cheap trading platform from my module leader...
share.com
trading cost kinda similar with m'sia...
minimum cost is 7.5 pound
stamp duty
and plus a admin fee of 2.5pound+VAT every quarter...
i can set a dividend reinvestment order...
where they will reinvest my dividend(must more than 10 pounds)asap...
i'll try to learn how to invest well in uk market and diversify my portfolio...
lastly,
i might be staying here in UK if i manage to get the PSW to work here for 2 years...
time to fight for future...
Gogogo...

Be happy...
saw an article posted by one of my friend's blog...
http://malaysiafinance.blogspot.com/
it is good if all of us learn how to be happy...
Bertand Russell divide it into 2 parts...
1st we have to conquer the unhappiness
2nd...conquer the happiness
its like chinese YIN YAN...
we have to do both parts...
Bertrand Russell’s 14 steps
First you must know how to conquer unhappiness.
1. Don’t be taken in by melancholy
Melancholy is only a passing mood; don’t mistake it for wisdom. Prolonged sadness can lead to mental depression, a sickness associated with suicidal tendency. You must believe that you can change your mood simply by doing something different – play a game or talk to a good friend for diversion.
2. Don't get caught in the competitive treadmill
Life is always a struggle. You compete in school, in university and at work … always wanting to do better and making more money. You really do not need so much to be happy. You must know when to stop chasing material possessions and learn to be contented. You cannot be happy if you are still greedy for more and more.
Feeling happy is the only true success. Don’t work so hard until you forget how to be happy.
3. Develop the right attitude to boredom and excitement
Everyone has a natural fear of boredom. That is why one always has the urge to find things to do. Very few people can just sit down, do nothing and simply enjoy peace and tranquility (but give it a try!). Do not fear a little boredom for a certain amount of boredom in life is to be expected.
The opposite of boredom is excitement but be careful in seeking it. Incidentally, there is a recent news report from Australia that the easy availability of Viagra and other stimulants has raised the level of sexual activity amongst senior citizens (that is, those over 75) to exceptional levels of excitement. Just imagine that. Excitement is best sought in small doses and in the right places.
4. Make your worries concrete, don’t suppress them
Get a sense of perspective. Ask yourself “what is the worst thing that can possibly happen?” For example if your doctor tells you that your disease is incurable, you must realise that worry will not make you better. The best you can do is to find enjoyment every day for whatever life you have left.
On the other hand though, when you have a difficult problem, do not suppress it because it will not go away by itself. Face it, grapple with it and try to find a way to resolve it. Do what you can and believe that it will be alright when the time comes. Remember! Prolonged worrying can cause mental depression.
5. Don’t envy, admire!
Since I have already touched on envy and jealousy at the start of my talk, I only wish to add this: Enjoy what you have for its own sake. Don’t compare yourself with others who are more successful than you.
When you are sad, compare yourself with people who are in a worse situation.
6. Fight back against guilt and shame
When you are young, you are easily influenced by your religious teachers and your parents. As a result, your conscience is formed. Many things you like to do but are considered sinful will make you unhappy as your conscience pricks you. Unless you are able to change your mindset, you will be unhappy.
According to Bertrand Russell, consensual sex between two adults can be very thrilling and the partners should not be made to feel ashamed or guilty. Russell expounded this concept almost a century ago. Today a majority of the people – at least in this auditorium – are prepared to accept the idea. A minority though would think that Russell was encouraging divorce as he was an atheist.
Statistics show that more than 50% of people in Europe and the US are divorced. Frequently many marriages that are unhappy do not end in divorce only because of the constraining factors of religion, children, guilt and shame. So to be happy, you need to understand and appreciate Russell’s philosophy on this issue.
7. Don’t suffer from an exaggerated sense of injustice
We must be concerned about politics because it affects all of us in so many ways and impacts on the future of our children. But you must bear in mind that you alone cannot change the situation or the flow of current affairs. After you have done what you can, leave it to fate and don’t be unhappy.
8. Don’t care too much what others think
"Respect public opinion only to avoid starvation and jail."
Normally you will not feel happy to do something without your spouse’s approval, or that of friends and family. But you must not be afraid to exercise your own judgment in certain important matters, e.g. when to buy and when to sell shares. Your wife may not be giving the best advice on these matters.
Everyone has his own opinion but who is right and who is wrong is a constant puzzle. For example, the Catholics forbid divorce but it is allowed by the Muslim and the civil courts.
The secrets of happiness
Now you must know how to conquer happiness. The next six measures make up Steps 9 to 14 of the Bertrand Russell philosophy to happiness.
1. Cultivate zest
Get into the habit of taking a lively and friendly interest in everything. The more things a man is interested in, the more opportunities he has to make himself happy. An introvert cannot be happy. Outside working hours, you must have a lot of free time to make yourself happy. Make new friends, have more hobbies, play games, surf the Internet, watch football and movies, etc.
2. Be affectionate
Do not be afraid to show kindness and affection to people e.g. tipping waiters and the jaga kereta. You cannot be happy if you do not have the feeling that you are doing something good and people love you. You will feel happy if you can make someone happy.
You can create happiness by offering scholarships to help needy students without expecting anything in return. I have done so and found happiness in this. All the recipients have to promise me is that when they are financially solvent they will help other needy students. In this way, they will continue to do charity and create happiness after I die.
Avoid an argument because no one wins in any argument. Remember how you felt the last time you had an argument with someone. When you receive affection or admiration, you would feel secure and this enables you to perform better. By the same token, you should do the same unto others.
Here I would like to quote from Russell’s book again. “The best type of affection is reciprocally life-giving: each receives affection with joy and gives it without effort, and each finds the whole world more interesting in consequence of the existence of this reciprocal happiness. There is, however, another kind, by no means uncommon, in which one person sucks the vitality of the other, one receives what the other gives, but gives almost nothing in return. Some very vital people belong to this bloodsucking type. They extract the vitality from one victim after another, but while they prosper and grow interesting, those upon whom they live grow pale and dim and dull.”
3. Be a good parent
Give your child time and not too much money.
The bond between parents and children is often one of the greatest source of happiness. But in many cases, it is also a source of unhappiness to both parties. In fact, studies show that in most cases, at least one of both parties is unhappy in the relationship. The reasons for this phenomenon are too many and varied and would be outside the scope of this talk.
4. Do interesting, varied and constructive workLiving in a competitive world, one is born to do work. Everyone needs to work. Work prevents boredom. Even uninteresting work will make holidays more enjoyable. Work offers the opportunity for you to achieve your ambition. Try to find interesting work so that you can enjoy doing it.
5. Cultivate plenty of relaxing minor interests
Enjoy as many hobbies and pursuits as you can; make sure these provide a difference from your day job. For example: Keep a dog, read, surf the Net, play games, watch TV or contact your friends more frequently. You must realise most of your enjoyment is generated from the people closest to you – your friends, children and your spouse.
6. Find the right balance between effort and resignation
A man occupies almost all his time in worrying about his wife, children, his work and his financial position. All these burdens are bound to depress and tire him.
Very few people, except singles, have never quarreled with their spouses. Very few parents have not endured grave anxiety when their children are ill. Very few businessmen have never met financial difficulties and few professional men have not faced periods of failure. It is at such times that the wide variety of cultivated interests provides an outlet for amusement and happiness.
stay cool stay happy always

having 4 major holdings in 1 portfolio...
2 not doing well due to the cyclical characteristic of its own biz...
and also due to the weak USD...
2 major holding shown 10% losses...
another stay still on its foot even its cost of operating increased due to higher material cost...
net profit also decreased due to the weak USD...
1 showing good result which involve in food industry...
putting order to sell off the S'pore stock...
need cash to pay some fee...
and its the worse performer and having bad biz environment...
in conclusion...
will be more concentrated with 3 major stock...
and quite hard to hit my 2011 target...
a 30k portfolio...
2nd target still possible...
15% grow...
which mean 25k portfolio...

NOT all IPO is good to speculate...
Lesson behind JCY listing story
Corporate Portrait by Jeeva Arulanpalam

Vital to assess risks when investing in highly cyclical sector
THINK twice before buying shares of a company that will not include the issuance of new shares but the sale of existing shares by its original shareholder(s) during the company's initial public offering (IPO) exercise.
A common piece of advice parted to investors when fishing for new stock investments is if a company that is to be listed offers a great growth story, why would the original shareholder(s) look to reduce his stake significantly? No doubt the original shareholder(s) will want to make a profit during the IPO exercise, but why not have a combination of an offer for sale and issuance of fresh shares to continue enjoying the potential upside the stock will have once listed?
One company that comes to mind is Malaysian hard disk-drive component maker JCY International Bhd, which was listed on the Main Market over a year ago. The company promised a good growth story and was touted at one point during its fund raising exercise as potentially being South-East Asia's largest technology IPO exercise since 2000.
Based on previous news report, YKY Investment Ltd, controlled by Malaysian businessman Y.K. Yong, had originally wanted to sell some 530.2 million existing shares, or 25.9%, of the company to institutional and non-institutional investors at RM1.60 to RM2.20 per share.
Several analysts had then said that the company's indicative IPO price of RM2 per share for retail investors was fairly valued and offered minimum upside. ECM Libra Investment said in a report then that the IPO was priced at a historical earnings multiple of 19.7 times while a smaller peer like Notion VTec Bhd traded at a historical multiple of 11.8 times, making JCY very expensive.
Shortly after, the company slashed its offer size for institutional investors (some reports attributed this to weak demand) and finally sold a total of 443 million existing shares at RM1.60 to institutional investors and RM1.52 to retail buyers. Some analysts had said that the RM1.60 price tag valued the company at nine times 2010 estimated earnings.
Since listing in late February 2010, the company has seen its share price take a beating, losing 62% of its listing price value and ending at 61 sen as at last Friday. The lacklustre appeal in the stock has been mainly due to declining profits although analysts had said then that the company was likely to do well on the back of the technology industry having a bright future.
Many of the “buy” calls recommended by research houses covering the stock have been switched as of late last year to a “sell” or “hold” due to the company's poor earnings. From the six quarterly results announced by the company after its listing in February last year, two quarters reported growth in revenue and earnings, one quarter saw revenue and net profit somewhat plateau while the last three quarters recorded a decline in revenue and earnings.
For the fourth quarter ended Sept 30, 2010, the company posted a net loss of RM22.6mil against a net profit of RM73.5mil a year ago while revenue slipped to RM486mil from RM501.2mil a year ago.
For the first quarter ended Dec 31, 2010, the company made a net profit of RM7.5mil against RM77.5mil a year ago while revenue was down to RM438.9mil from RM528.2mil posted for Dec 31 2009.
More recently, the company announced middle of this month that its second quarter ended March 31 saw net profit slide 81% to RM12.5mil on the back of lower revenue by 28% at RM397.4mil from a year ago.
The reason for lower second quarter revenue was due to the depreciating US dollar against the ringgit and lower volume of components sold for the current quarter as a result of weakening global demand for HDDs. It added that lower pre-tax profits was due to higher cost of production as cost of raw materials such as aluminium and stainless steel as well as labour cost have gone up.
On its outlook for the remaining year, the company has cautioned that a stronger ringgit and shortage of local labour coupled with higher raw material prices will continue to affect the profitability of the HDD component manufacturers. Also, a shortage of HDD components due to the natural disaster in Japan could affect its output.
This paints a bleak outlook for the company, as seen with OSK Research revising its forecast for the company.
“Taking an increasingly conservative stance as a result of the poor showing in the first half of financial year ending Sept 30, 2011 (FY11), we cut our FY11 topline estimate by 9.1% to RM1.9bil. Correspondingly, our FY11 earnings per share dropped by 29.4% to 4.6 sen,” it said in a report this month.
Due to the earnings downgrade and having pegged the stock at a nine times FY11 PER, OSK Research said the company's fair value for its share price was 41 sen, not too far away from its current net tangible asset per share of 43 sen.
“At nine times FY11 PER, it will be trading close to the 10x historical peak PER valuation of Notion and Engtek (Eng Teknologi Holdings Bhd) over the last 5 years and 11 years respectively. We believe the slight discount to its peers is more than justified given JCY's earnings volatility,” it said.
Based on Bloomberg data, three out of the seven analysts covering the stock have recommended a “sell” or “underperform” on the stock with the target price ranging between 41 sen and 64 sen.
The question that begs asking now is what happens to the investors who bought into the company's growth story one year ago and paid either RM1.60 (institutional) or RM1.52 (retail), only to sit on hefty paper losses a year later? Do they cash out at a loss now or wait on the hope that the company will see better days down the line?
A key take-away from all this is that the next time a new company is to be listed, equal importance should be given to the key risks attached to the company's business, especially if its business operates in a highly cyclical sector.

how is our INFLATION now a days?
a friend of mine asked a question about official inflation and unofficial kl inflation...
somehow, those number released by government might not be that accurate...
official inflation of malaysia is around 2-4% annually...
thats the official inflation..
but is it the real rate??
how much our roti canai cost today??
or lets us see the main cost of every prices in the town...
RON97 has increased from rm2.30 last december to rm 2.90 today!!
how about sugar??has been increased 2 times in a short period..
that's why some analyst said that our unofficial inflation tend to be around 8-10% annually...
we have to really make sure our annual income grow greater than the 10%...
btw, medical cost tend to increase 10-15% annually...
how "safe" is your money in the BANK?
it is a must for everyone to manage their finance asap and as good as possible...
dont let inflation eat up your wealth...

Intelligent Investor by Graham
this is a great book where every investor must read at least 3 times!!!
this book teach us how to be a "safe" investor...
thats mean you have earn a reasonable return with the lowest cost and lowest risk...
some "aggressive" investor always think that 15% p.a is not enough!!!
bare in mind...any return above reasonable range will come with extreme risk...
you must know how to manage these risks before you try to attempt above REASONABLE return!!
market sentiment and reaction change time to time...
some aggressive method which had helped to stay more than 15% last time might not work this time and in the future...
**sometimes blue chip tend to outperform small cap but not ALWAYS...
**sometimes DIVIDEND stock tend to outperform GROW stock with low dividend...
**sometimes low PE tend to outperform high PE...
so you must know the when and how to use all the investing method SAFELY!!!
get yourself good safety margin...
SAFETY margin doesn't mean all about the price you pay for the stock...
GRAHAM says...
we have to look after the quality of the earning, financial position and risk...
then for the pricing part...
low PE and Price to book value...to make sure we dont overpaid the stock!!
***use average number to get a better view on all the variables...average to help us to exclude the seasonal affect and give better picture how the company perform...
feel glad that my investment policy adopt most of the SAFETY precaution step...
its help to keep myself away from those DANGEROUS bomb...
at the end...
find yourself the best suit and safest way of investing for yourself...
happy investing...
“I’m a Pirate, Take Me To Stranger Tides!”
best 3 things of being a pirate??
let's see...
1)no need to follow black and white (law)...
as a the captain of the pirate...we set our own rules!!!
sail freely...
NO FORMAL LETTER needed to get approval...
save cost, save time and save the earth(PAPERLESS)!!
2)NO INCOME TAX!!!
have you even heard of pirate paying income tax??
OF CUZ NO!!!
you can reserve and use all your hard earned $$!!
thats mean...
we need no accountant to help up how to reduce tax or...
"RUN" tax!!
save cost, save time and save the accountant(cuz it might be illegal to RUN tax)!!
3)NO SUMMON...
in pirate world...you free to "DRIVE" your ship!!!
no traffic police will go after you cuz of double parking...
but we still have to be a responsible captain!!!
many life in our hand...we dont want our BROTHERs die of accident...
so whats the benefit??
NO TRAFFIC JAM,save cost (not need to pay summon & DUIT KOPI)...
so, would you like to be a pirate?
i'm recruiting new pirate....

learnt few things from my GF...
she like to walk around supermarket or shopping places...
most of the time just to buy few things and look see look see around...
through this action,
we can observe all the prices...
we can know where got promotion and which place offer the best price...
for an example,
a facial product which cost almost rm40 normally...
we can often buy it around 36 during normal promo in guardian or watson...
deep discount will go to around RM32...
sometimes when we are lucky we get buy 1 free 1 deal from newspaper or other promotion...
so keep ur eyes open and observe...
some TIPS,
feel free to walk around guardian, watson and caring...
for supplement~caring offer the best most of the time...
for daily products and F&B...
TESCO normally offer the best price...
then 99 mart near your residential area might offer u some good price...
for example: VSOY soy drink cost us RM 1.95 in jusco...
but its only cost us RM 1.7 in 99 mart...
how much u are able to save here??
12.82%!!
spend wisely!!
compare the price 1st...
buy more(only for durable stuff and the product u use every day) during the PROMOTION
hope this post can help u up...
cuz i found this knowledge is very useful...

feel free to walk around guardian, watson and caring...
for supplement~caring offer the best most of the time...
for daily products and F&B...
Do we need 1Malaysia email?
this is a project which will cost MALAYSIA 50 million...
its led by Tricubes Bhd which is the the PN list...
btw,PN list is for those "low"class or dangerous company...
Tricubes Bhd has 2 year losses from 2008 to 2010...
low cash position...
9mil of long term debt...
how does this company going to make sure the project will go on smoothly??
microsoft will help up in this project too...
but where to get that 50 mil??
lastly...
do we need a "secure" and MALAYsian email?
we have been using gmail, yahoo and hotmail for decades dy...
no problem at all...
why spend that kind of $$ to do this project??
please full utilities our MALAYSIA's $$...
we do not really need this 1MALAYSIA email...
we do not really need the 100 stories BUILDING...
we need a stable food price and petrol price...
hope MALAYSIA will get better every year....

How to avoid losing huge $$ from the stock market~~
saw few of my BLOGGER friends wrote this topic recently...
just want to share my opinion on this topic...
1st~never use "future" money or money that needed for your living!! agreed with YY...
just to make sure that if you really LOST you $$, you wouldn't starve or affect your future living!!
2nd~don't start speculating
do it after you know what you want and how can you do it...
speculator seldom win stock HOLDER in longer term...
1 shoot might kill all you previous 1000 wins....
3rd~Dollar cost averaging...
don't stop buying stock...keep it going...
please read INTELLIGENT INVESTOR written by BENJAMIN GRAHAM...
not necessary in same amount every month...
invest what you afford of...
4th~learn how to do analyze a company...
FUNDAMENTAL...plus small portion of technical analysis...
i learnt this after a 45% loss in 2008...
now i created my own company scanning process...
its cash position...
dividend history...
revenue record...
cash flow record...especially operating cash flow...
5th~stand still...don't follow the market...
market is volatile...
but you don't need to be exactly the same like the market~volatile...
**everyone have their own style...find yours and keep it up...
know what you are doing and heading to are essential!!
NEVER GIVE UP ON INVESTING YOUR $$
It has been 100 days
it seems to be a very short period compares with YEARS...
we have been together 100 days...
went through kinda alot of stuff...
happy 1...
romantic 1...
sad and angry 1...cuz some different perspectives among us will cause some "FIRE"
GOOD 1...
bad 1...
we face problems...
but we believe that we can get through it if we hold tight and try to solve it together..
sometimes, communication link might broke down...
we have to keep it right...
try our best to settle it down...
best part of our relationship...
we talk alot...
we talk everything...
not sure whether this will work or not..
but i'm sure that its better than those couple with very little communication..
we going to face a very tough condition soon...
hope we can overcome it...
if we do mange to overcome it...
pretty sure we can keep our relationship ever more longer!!
what can i do now??
hold tight and keep on trying to overcome every challenges...
Cost and benefit analysis??
we use this quite often in our daily life...
we will always set priorities...
which stuff mean more to you...
it will caries more weightage in ur decision...
then we will compare with other things whether its enough to offset the benefit of your 1st choice...
then we decide...
that's why wise GURU always said that...
"its not about your ability...
everything is depend on how BADLY you want it...
how much you want it??
you will find 1000000000 ways to get it if you really want it BADLY..."
so ask urself...
what you want actually...
what you want the most at this moment and in the future...
i used to ask these question to my own self...
keep myself on track toward the future goals....

Q1 report
current cash holding~2.72%
pumped in extra 650 so far...
heavily invested in EQUITY since i liquidated my fix income portfolio due to some budgeting problem.
**hence i have only 1 portfolio at this moment.
current holding
CCK 20%
Gtronic 20%
Wellcall 35%
FSL 23%
Pantech 2%
plus odd lot of HIRO and HIRO-WA
dividend received so far is RM 438.57
it will be an DY of 2.49%
current return(actual return) is only 0.49%(after including all the new capital)
return without calculating the new capital will be 4.47%
*so far actual return still under perform the market which is around 2.3%
best performer is CCK
while worst performers are...FSL and GTRONIC
GTRONIC is a cyclical stock and its the down trend of the tech industry...
where the book to bill ratio haven't shown a firm rebound yet.
meanwhile FSL didn't not publish a good report in 2010...
where its show a loss...
but overall cash flow still ok and debt has been reduced significantly.
losses is due to the impairment loss of 7mil plus and a vessel operating fee of 5mil
an expense of 13 mil...
current plan will be cutting down some holding in wellcall to overweight into TECH industry...
weaken USD and high rubber price not going to push wellcall...
too much weight in defensive stock...
wait for the best timing to do the adjustment.
will be getting a DY of 7% and above..

Future pathway
how to get a balance life?
work and family...have to adjust to the best equilibrium point...
Material and spiritual...have to do the same thing too...
so how...
sometimes,we have to choose one and have to put 1 behind at one point...
if you want to archive something at the fastest pace...you have to hold 1 tight and 100% on it...
this is the power of focus...
holding both...
you still can get what you want...
but abit slower and it doesn't 100% guarantee "SUCCESS"
so what do you think?
as a youngster and young adult...
what will you choose??

2 seminar of the day~~
done by mastery asia...
1st we have terence from Spore talk about stock market investment...
kinda new strategy for me...
RENTING your stock to others...
thats mean we will have extra 1 more income stream by investing in equity...
its kinda workable...
but we need to have US's stock...
need to ready to sell OPTION...
so its impossible to do it in M'sia!!
have to know how to sell option/RENTING out ur stock.
can make around USD 1 per contract(100 share) depending on the underlaying share price.
kinda low downward risk where most of the OPTION(90%) expired worthless at the end of the month...
even the 10% failure occur,
you just have to sell your share out with an agreed price in the option.
then buy back the share with your $$ and buy back the share then rent it out again.
this is a new thing i learnt...
but 2nd seminar is abit disappointing...
no new knowledge on property investment..
both seminars are used to promote their workshop...
1st 1 and half day course cost RM999...
while 2nd is a 4 days workshop by some1 very famous in M'sia...
it cost around 6k...
conclusion...
learnt something today...
eat alot today...
kinda great day...

My Portfolio~updates
Dividend received so far~RM 287.97
2 more dividend to be received in early of APRIL...
FSL started to provide my portfolio around RM107 per quarter...
current portfolio is kinda under perform which recorded a 5% loss.
mainly due to some ex-date adjustment and setback from the current market shock.
Technology holding recorded the biggest loss...
while 2nd is the FSL trust due to the hike of OIL price...
portfolio's target of 4 digits dividend is kinda sure now...
but a return above 10% still a challenge...
